MacLean: No Rush To Name Senators Captain

Senators head coach Paul MacLean said Friday there's no timetable to name a new captain after Daniel Alfredsson left the team to sign as a free agent with the Red Wings.

"We're going to go through a process," MacLean said, according to the Senators' website. "I've got to spend some time talking to the individuals, talking to (general manager) Bryan Murray, talking to my coaching staff.

Crosby isn't on board with the Russian government's stance, underlining his support of gay athletes and their right to play.

Luongo Explored Voiding Deal With Canucks

Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo told TSN he had discussions with the NHLPA this offseason about voiding his contract with the team.

"I explored every possibility, and that was definitely one of them," Luongo told James Duthie in an interview that was shown on "SportsCentre" on Friday night. "And at that point there's different logistics into something like that and it's very complicated, but definitely it was something that I was looking at and ready to do if the opportunity came up."

"I was ready to walk away from it and sign somewhere else for lesser term and less money," Luongo said.
